Robert McLeish

Most of Robert’s professional career was spent with the BBC. He joined Engineering Division as a Control Room technician in the BBC World Service but became a Studio Manager for the BBC’s domestic services, where he specialised in live and recorded music. He also spent two years training Studio Managers. He took a two year secondment to the Western Pacific as Head of Broadcasting in the Solomon Islands, developing the radio service prior to the country’s independence.

Returning to the UK he spent time with the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association before taking up a series of posts in the newly created BBC Local Radio Division. His main role was to establish and run the Training Unit for the development of the BBC’s local stations.

His final post was as Head of Corporate Management Training.

After leaving the BBC he worked as an international management consultant in many countries including Australia, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Jordan, Russia, Scandinavia and the USA.
